Riscure and NXP announce successful completion of the first V2X product evaluation under the Dutch Common Criteria scheme. The leading provider of security services, Riscure was trusted to undertake the evaluation of a critical automotive component against a Protection Profile still in development. This project once again proves Riscure’s capability to deliver robust security evaluations for traditional as well as the latest certification requirements.
Following the introduction of Cyber Security Act in Europe, several markets were challenged to determine the efficient approach for addressing security in wide variety of products, including industrial and critical infrastructures, automotive and consumer IoT. For automotive industry this is particularly significant with the wider adoption of car-to-car (C2C) and vehicle-to-anything (V2X) communication. The challenge of making a car safe becomes increasingly dependent on proper security.
One of the initiatives in the automotive security domain is the Protection Profile (PP) for V2X developed by C2C consortium. This profile is currently in development, therefore additional challenges are presented when conducting a trial evaluation. Utilizing more than 15 years of experience in certification, Riscure has successfully completed the evaluation of SFX1800 – an automotive V2X HSM device developed by NXP. Based on the results of the report, the product has earned a certificate from NCSIB, the Dutch Common Criteria certification body.
Pascal van Gimst, Vice President Global Services Sales and Business Development at Riscure, comments: “The Protection Profiles developed by the C2C consortium offer the necessary guidance to vendors to help them achieve better security and safety for years to come. Riscure is a member of C2C consortium and has a working relationship with most of the parties involved in defining the relevant security standard for the products addressing the automotive market. The first successful evaluation under an emerging V2X profile is an important step for the automotive industry to deliver smart and connected technology with the best security practices”.
